Rather than climbing over the Swartberg mountains, this incredible road cuts directly through them along the floor of a spectacular gorge. It crosses the Groot River 25 times as it snakes through towering red sandstone cliffs. The drive is relatively flat but incredibly twisty, requiring smooth inputs and offering an immersive, canyon-carving feel.
