The Nockalm Road is a 34 km panoramic mountain road through the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve in Carinthia, Austria, connecting Innerkrems with Ebene Reichenau. Its 52 bends wind through forests, alpine meadows and the distinctive rounded peaks of the Nockberge, climbing to 2,042 metres at Eisentalhöhe. Unlike many high Alpine passes defined by steep, exposed terrain, the Nockalm Road has a gentler character, combining sustained cornering with moderate gradients, broad mountain scenery and numerous places to stop along the route.

The Nockalm Road is defined by rhythm and flow rather than extreme technicality. Its 52 bends are generally smooth and well connected, with repeated climbs and descents through the rolling Nockberge landscape. Moderate gradients and a well-developed road surface make it less intimidating than narrower Alpine passes, while the continuous sequence of curves keeps the drive engaging. The road is especially well suited to a relaxed pace, with viewpoints and stops naturally breaking up the journey between Innerkrems and Ebene Reichenau.

The Nockalm Road is a seasonal toll road, normally open from early May until the end of October and closed during winter. Opening can still depend on weather conditions, so check the current road status before travelling. Motorcycles are not permitted between 18:00 and 08:00, with the final motorcycle entry currently at 17:15. There are no fuel stations directly along the road; the nearest are around Kremsbrücke on the Innerkrems side and Patergassen on the Ebene Reichenau side. Allow more time than the distance suggests if you plan to stop at viewpoints, exhibitions or walking trails.
